The security industry is evolving rapidly, with high-resolution IP cameras, HD coaxial cameras, and complex surveillance systems becoming the norm. However, installation engineers face increasing challenges—multiple camera types, cumbersome testing tools, and time-consuming troubleshooting. Recognizing these pain points, the SKYSHL development team set out to create a powerful, all-in-one IP Camera Tester that would streamline the installation and maintenance of modern security systems. This vision led to the birth of the SKYSHL SS352.
Identifying Industry Challenges
During our research, we conducted extensive interviews with security professionals and installers. One major challenge was the need for a versatile CCTV Tester that could support multiple camera technologies, including 8K H.265 IP cameras, CVI, TVI, AHD, EX-SDI, HD-SDI, and 3G-SDI. Many professionals struggled with carrying separate tools for different testing requirements. Our goal was to consolidate these functions into a single, easy-to-use device.
Innovating for Efficiency and Performance
One of our first breakthroughs was integrating 8K H.265 video decoding with a 7-inch IPS touch screen (1920x1200 resolution). This made it possible to display ultra-clear surveillance footage directly on the tester, eliminating the need for additional monitors. Additionally, we designed the SS352 IP CCTV Tester with 4K HDMI input/output and VGA input, ensuring seamless compatibility with high-resolution video sources.
Another challenge was network troubleshooting. Traditional RJ45 TDR Cable Testers often fail to provide precise fault diagnostics. We upgraded the SS352 CCTV Tester with advanced TDR cable testing, allowing users to detect cable pair status, length, attenuation, and impedance with extreme accuracy. Additionally, the built-in PoE Tester can measure power supply voltage and deliver up to 30W of PoE power output, making camera setup easier and faster.
Enhancing PTZ and ONVIF Camera Testing
Security engineers frequently work with PTZ Camera Testers, but traditional tools often lack seamless control capabilities. To solve this, we integrated coaxial PTZ control, ONVIF auto-login, and rapid video detection, enabling instant testing for brands like Dahua, Hikvision, and Axis. The PTZ Controller Tester also allows users to adjust camera angles, zoom, and access the OSD menu directly from the SS352.
